Professor Simon Maddocks will take up the role of Vice-Chancellor of Charles Darwin University on Monday 24 March.

A leading agricultural scientist who has been closely associated with the Northern Territory for almost 20 years, Professor Maddocks will be CDU’s third Vice-Chancellor.
 
He will take on the role following the resignation of Professor Barney Glover, who is now Vice-Chancellor of the University of Western Sydney.
 
Professor Maddocks, previously the Director of Science Partnerships at the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), has been a member of the Governing Board of the Menzies School of Health Research for nearly 20 years. He has chaired the Board for the past nine years.
 
Professor Maddocks, who is a specialist in animal reproductive physiology and immunology, has held other senior roles at SARDI, including that of Chief Scientist, Livestock and Farming Systems, and Head of the Department of Animal Science at the University of Adelaide and later Director of its Roseworthy campus.
 
He holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Hons) and a PhD from the University of Adelaide. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology.
