Casuarina campus will be buzzing with festivities and music during Charles Darwin University Open Day on Sunday, 23 August.

Among the distinctly Territorian-flavoured activities on the day will be a crocodile dissection demonstration, native plant sales, and an opportunity to meet CDU’s resident turtle and barramundi.

The event will showcase the courses at CDU, which is one of the few universities in Australia to offer both Vocational Education and Training and Higher Education courses.

Events Manager Marissa Briston said the event aimed to draw the whole community together by offering activities for all ages and encouraging attendees to try a new trade.

“Open Day is all about fun and learning and will be packed with exciting activities, workshops, food stalls and quality entertainment,” she said.

“We hope the event will help attendees find out about a new world of possibilities.”

Demonstrations and hands-on activities relating to trades courses, including automotive, civil construction, heavy vehicle, maritime, carpentry and 4WD training will run during the event.

Food taste-testing, cooking demonstrations and mocktail designing will be among other highlights.

Visitors can wander through stalls displaying the various areas of study at CDU, including medicine, nursing, education, environmental studies, language, law, pharmacy, social work, exercise and sports science, psychology and visual arts.

Visitors can discover what career or course best matches their personalities by completing a NextLife Finder questionnaire during the event. A web-based program, the CDU Open Day Explorer Game, will run on the day with a high-tech study pack as the prize for winners.

CDU Open Day will run on Casuarina campus on Sunday, 23 August from 10am until 2pm. For more information visit W: cdu.edu.au/openday
