The university will officially open its CDU Sydney centre in Haymarket tomorrow.

Students will have the opportunity to study business and finance at the CDU Sydney centre, which is designed to provide easy access to teaching staff and state-of-the-art learning facilities for internal and external students in the greater Sydney area.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Professor Martin Carroll said CDU Sydney offered small class sizes and the flexibility to support students to achieve their goals.

“The centre consists of modern ‘Collaborate’ teaching spaces, designed for integrated online and in-room class interaction, and generous student study spaces,” Professor Carroll said. “These spaces will provide opportunities for students to work and learn collaboratively and will greatly enhance interaction between students in classes on-site and online.”

Professor Carroll said that CDU Sydney was well placed to accommodate internal mode courses with a suite of higher education courses available in Semester I, 2014.

“Courses including Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Accounting and Master of Business Administration will be available to international and domestic students,” he said. “Master classes, workshops and seminars will also be held at the centre.

“Those students undertaking Tertiary Enabling Programs online over summer will now have access to support staff at the centre and English language preparatory courses will also be on offer in the New Year.”

CDU Sydney is located Level 10, 815 George Street in the heart of Sydney's CBD, in Haymarket, the international student precinct. It is close to railways, public transport, cafes, restaurants and shopping venues and recreational activities in Sydney.

The centre was funded through the Commonwealth Structural Adjustment Fund and aims to increase CDU’s presence interstate with the establishment of study centres. CDU Sydney is in addition to the CDU Melbourne located at 104 Franklin Street, Melbourne.
