Forum parades Darwin’s thriving art scene

A series of colourful public talks at Charles Darwin University’s Casuarina campus will reveal the arty side of Darwin.

A line-up of local artists and arts industry experts is set to speak at the School of Creative Arts and Humanities’ weekly Art Forum.

Printmaking lecturer Mats Undén said this year’s forum would feature experts speaking on a range of topics, including visual arts and ethical aspects of the industry.

Mr Undén said a highlight would be a presentation by celebrated Darwin artist Winsome Jobling on Thursday (28 April), and would include a tour of her current exhibition at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT).

“Anyone with an interest in the arts is welcome to come along and listen to the many fascinating and inspiring talks we have planned,” he said.

Mr Undén said other highlights would include a presentation by MAGNT Curator of Australian Art Dr Wendy Garden (5 May) and talks on the Artmart 2016 pop-up show in Parap (12 May) and the “Balnhdhurr – a lasting impression” exhibition at the CDU Art Gallery (19 May).

The 5 and 12 May sessions will run from 12 noon to 1pm in building Blue 2A. The 19 May session will be held at the CDU Art Gallery, building Orange 12.
