Lecturer bound for art residency
A Visual Arts Lecturer will create artworks in collaboration with one of the Northern Territory’s most iconic cultural venues.
Sarah Pirrie is one of three NT artists selected for the Creative in Residence program funded through the Northern Territory Government.
The Northern Territory Library will support Ms Pirrie to interpret and present the Library’s Northern Territory Collection in an innovative way.
Over six months she will develop a companion guide for Darwin’s coastline by researching and interweaving personal narratives, historical events, places and ecological phenomena at the library. At the conclusion of the program Ms Pirrie’s works will go on show to the public.
The other artists selected for the program are Jennifer Taylor, who will complete her residency at the Araluen Cultural Centre, and Huni Bolliger will complete a residency at the NT Archives.
The program provides almost $90,000 in funding to support the artists during the residency as they explore the cultural venues and their collections to create new work and experiences.
