Awards recognise CDU, Menzies leadership

By Andrew Hall

A professional staff member and a student received high honours at the recent Northern Territory Australian Leadership Excellence Award (ALEA).

Director of Research and Deputy Director of Menzies School of Health Research Brendon Douglas was named the ALEA NT Leader/Manager of the Year.

CDU student Kieran Marchant was named Student Leader of the Year for the NT.

The prestigious national awards series presented by the Institute of Managers and Leaders (formerly the Australian Institute of Management), has celebrated outstanding leadership for 28 years, with ALEA winners being nominated by leadership professionals throughout Australia.

The Leader/Manager Award category acknowledges the innovation, strategic thinking and vision of executive leaders from the public and private sectors. The NT award sends Mr Douglas forward as a finalist in the National ALEA Finals, to be celebrated at a ceremony next month in Sydney.

“The NT awards attracted a diverse group of exceptional local leaders across the Northern Territory,” Mr Douglas said.

“It’s terrific to be recognised by your profession and peers, and I’m fortunate enough to work with talented and passionate colleagues here at CDU and Menzies.”

ALEA judges also recognised Deputy Head of the Business School Dr Aggie Wegner, who was a finalist.
