October Business Month spotlights innovation

By Melody Song

Eight innovative research projects under way at the university will be in the spotlight at CDU Innov8, an Innovation Week event during October Business Month.

Researchers from across the university’s research institutes and colleges will have eight minutes each to present on their work, which will showcase innovation ranging from new ways of thinking to new ways of doing.

The event aims to highlight CDU’s research capability and innovation, as well as highlight opportunities for collaboration between researchers, industries and government.

Last year, the inaugural CDU Innov8 event saw more than 80 people attend to hear about new research projects, which included Fitbits for cows and the world-first metal 3D printing technology taking place at the university.

CDU Innov8 is a free event and open to members of the public. The master of ceremonies will be ABC Darwin journalist and producer Kristy O’Brien.

This year’s event will be held on Thursday, 11 October at the Blue 5 Lecture Theatre, Casuarina campus, at 5pm for a 5.30pm start.

Light refreshments and entertainment by the Darwin Symphony Orchestra will be provided. As places are limited, people are encouraged to register early.
