CDU students raise funds to support family of Anna Yu

Charles Darwin University (CDU) students are rallying together to support the family of CDU student Anna Yu who tragically passed away peacefully in hospital earlier this month.

In June, Ms Yu was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive, fast-growing tumour in her brain stem and bravely battled terminal illness for five months after the birth of her baby girl in February this year.

The 28-year-old CDU accounting student was presented with her masters degree in hospital before her passing by CDU Professor David Low, Dean of CDU’s Asia Pacific College of Business and Law surrounded by her family.

Ms Yu had been studying for the past two years and continued her study while she was in hospital.

CDU students who have been moved by her story have come together to show support to Anna and her family.

“Some of us have known Anna for over a year, some for a few months, and some have never met her in person, but have been moved tremendously by her story,” they said.

A sausage sizzle fundraiser was held by CDU students outside the CDU Theatre followed by a student concert on September 9.

Before her passing, Anna and her family started a Go Fund Me page to support in her treatment costs and provide for her daughter in the future.

Those looking to donate to Anna’s cause can visit her Go Fund Me page here.
