CDU staff put the ‘you’ in CDyou

Staff at Charles Darwin University (CDU) are putting the ‘you’ in CDU by generously supporting Northern Territory charities and CDU internal programs through the CDyou workplace giving program.

CDyou allows staff to effortlessly donate pre-tax dollars through payroll deductions to support CDU programs and charity partners including the Black Dog Institute, Foodbank NT, No More Campaign and Bridging the Gap Foundation.

Staff donation towards internal programs such as scholarships, cultural collections, library and archives and First Nations community programs are matched dollar-for-dollar by the University, doubling the impact of giving.

Since CDyou’s launch in 2018, more than $157,000 has been donated to internal CDU initiatives and external charities, including $91,165 by staff members and $66,170 matched by CDU internally.

Director of Advancement at CDU, Simon Matthias, said CDyou could create a closer-knit community at the University and contribute externally to the Territory.

“One of the key objectives of the staff giving program is to promote an internal culture of giving within the University,” Mr Matthias said.

“For this reason, we were keen to include organisations external to CDU to also be beneficiaries of staff support.”

Many CDU staff members are motivated to play their part in supporting charitable causes close to their heart.

Student Recruitment and Events Manager, Marissa Briston, is an enthusiastic contributor to the program.

“I chose to participate in the CDYou staff giving program as I am passionate about education and the opportunities it can offer people,” Ms Briston said.

“It is a great way to provide regular support to either students or initiatives that encourage and promote further education. As my contribution is matched by the university it means more students will benefit in the long term.”
