The Forum of Australian Chief Scientists was held in Darwin for the first time recently, with senior scientists from across Australia flying into the Territory to meet at Charles Darwin University.

As part of the forum, Australia’s Chief Scientist Professor Ian Chubb AC delivered a public lecture entitled “Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics: Solutions to Societal Challenges”.

CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover attended the forum as the Northern Territory’s Chief Scientist.

The forum provided an important forum for scientists across Australia to understand the challenges the Territory faces through its climate, remoteness and infrastructure, but also the many opportunities that abound with its natural resources, abundant water, land and geographical proximity to Asia.
