Carnival time for clubs, societies

About 25 CDU clubs and societies joined forces for the first time at a Clubs Carnival on Casuarina campus.

The student-run event brought together the clubs and societies in Boab Court to collaborate on future events, show off their activities and to sign up new members.

Clubs and Societies coordinator Brett Dwyer said that joining a campus club was a great way for new and returning students to enrich their time at university.

“CDU has about 40 different clubs and societies covering a broad spectrum of interests,” he said.

“For a lot of people being a member of a society or sporting club is a way to expand their circle of friends and also a way to help in self-development.”

The Clubs Carnival featured exhibition and food stalls, demonstrations and activities, a large marquee with chill-out zone and games.

Musical accompaniment was by DJ doof-doof in the morning until Dirty Dan and the Rockets took over for the afternoon shift.
