Alice staffer lifts lid on comedic talent

By Patrick Nelson

Quiet-achieving Alice Springs staffer Chris Little will unveil his secret talent for sharp-edged humour when he takes to the stage as a stand-up comedian at Adelaide Fringe tomorrow.

“It’s kind of a big deal,” said Chris, who makes up one-third of the act “Those Three Blokes from Alice” with friends Chris Cook and John McBryde.

“It will be our first performance outside of the NT. I guess it will be either a buzz or a bit soul sapping depending on how we go.”

Chris, who works as an advisor with Student Services at Alice Springs campus, said the real world and the media were among his best sources of material.

“I read a lot of non-fiction and try to stay informed. There’s plenty of material that I can make sound ridiculous when I apply my surreal brand of humour to it.

“One thing that I won’t be doing is joking about my experiences at work; not this time, anyway.”

Chris said he was once terrified of public speaking.

“Pub-like audiences can give stand-ups a hard time, but I was more nervous the other day when I was asked to tell the O Week audience about my role here at CDU.”

Chris said the trio had been allocated a one-hour slot each day from March 14-19.
