Chinese delegates join Confucius Institute talks

A group of Chinese university delegates have travelled to Darwin to strengthen ties with their academic counterparts at Charles Darwin University.

CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks welcomed the nine delegates from Anhui Normal University and Hainan University, who also attended the 7th Confucius Institute Board Meeting at Casuarina campus.

Professor Maddocks was the Chair of the Board during the meeting, and vice presidents of Anhui Normal University, Professor Li Linqi, and Hainan University, Professor Cao Yang, were among the visiting delegates.

During the two-day trip, delegates also met with staff from various areas at CDU, including Faculty of Engineering, Health, Science and the Environment Professor Sue Carthew, Head of the School of Creative Arts and Humanities Professor Brian Mooney, Pro Vice-Chancellor – Academic Professor Martin Carroll and education lecturer Dr Jon Mason.

Delegates also travelled to the CDU Waterfront campus and met Deputy Head of the Business School Dr Aggie Wegner.

The two Chinese universities are partner universities with CDU and its Confucius Institute.
