Charles Darwin quiz naturally selects winner

By Katie Weiss

A medical student has won Charles Darwin University’s first competition about its namesake, naturalist Charles Darwin.

Maree Lam said she planned to put the $500 travel voucher, which she won in the Charles Darwin’s Birthday Quiz, toward visiting her family in Hong Kong.

Maree said she hoped to celebrate completing her final year in the Bachelor of Clinical Science component of the NT Medical Program by travelling during the semester break.

She said she became curious about Charles Darwin after finding out that he had never visited Darwin, despite the city being named after him.

“Since doing the quiz, whenever I talk to my friends about studying at CDU, I can now tell them a bit about its namesake, Charles Darwin,” Maree said.

CDU is a partner of the NT Medical Program and offers the clinical science component of its double degree Bachelor of Clinical Sciences/Doctor of Medicine. The program is a collaboration between the NT Government and Flinders University.
