Engineer commended at awards night

CDU Chair of Structural Engineering Professor David Lilley was recently awarded Professional Engineer of the Year (Highly Commended) at the Engineers Australia Engineering Excellence Awards CDU Chair of Structural Engineering Professor David Lilley was recently awarded Professional Engineer of the Year (Highly Commended) at the Engineers Australia Engineering Excellence Awards

The Chair of Structural Engineering, Professor David Lilley, was recognised at the recent Engineers Australia Engineering Excellence Awards when he took out the Professional Engineer of the Year (Highly Commended) prize.

The award honours his great achievement and leadership within the engineering profession.

Professor Lilley has a lead teaching role at the School of Engineering and Information Technology, and assists undergraduate engineering students while they undertake their six-month work placements with the Northern Territory Government’s Department of Infrastructure.

His research interests include structural dynamics and non-destructive testing. He is a Fellow of the Institutions of Structural Engineers, Civil Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers, as well as Engineers Australia.

Before his appointment at CDU, Professor Lilley was a Senior Lecturer and researcher at the University of Newcastle, UK for 27 years.
