Seminar - Dreamland: The Figure of the Philosopher in Ethnographic Film

More: Professor Verren will screen a movie she has worked on with her Norwegian colleagues and discuss what the figure of "a philosopher" adds to ethnographic film. The movie was premiered at the Leeds International Film Festival in 2015 and in Tromsø Norway last month.

 

People Policy Place Seminar - Researching Policy Goods for Australia's Northern Regions

More: A "policy good" is an idea that arises out of John Dewey’s writings. It imagines those who are the subject of policy, and subject to it, as in some sense needing to have the capacity to choose those policies. In this seminar, Professor Verren will juxtapose questions about how research might generate such policy goods, with questions about how analysts understand the social science concepts they work with.
