Lecturer to guide new Territory storytellers

By Ellie Turner

A Media lecturer will offer her industry knowledge and international film production experience to mentor emerging Northern Territory filmmakers.

Dr Aurora Scheelings will mentor 13 Territorians who will take part in a national screen Talent Camp initiative, where they will have access to Australian industry experts this week.

She said the camp would help emerging practitioners, from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, to develop their Territory stories and identify market potential.

“There has been a national screen industry push for voices and perspectives that represent Australia’s diverse cultural and social make-up,” Dr Scheelings said.

“This is great news for those groups who have traditionally been under-represented within our mainstream entertainment media.

“It is increasingly becoming a global marketplace and diverse stories matter.”

Talent Camp is a partnership between the NT Government, Screen Territory, Screen Australia and the Australian Film Television and Radio School.
