Fit and fabulous Aimee Williams has done Charles Darwin University proud at the Australian Training Awards in Adelaide.

Aimee, a Certificate III and IV Fitness graduate, won the runners-up trophy in the Vocational Student of the Year category.

The active-life coach, who instructs fly-in fly-out workers at the Manigurr-ma Village gym, was one of three Territory finalists to have done their training at CDU.

The others were Bradley Malby (Cert III in Business Administration) and Shawn Du Venage (Cert III in Electrotechnology).

Fitness lecturer Nicki Higgins also flew the flag for CDU. Nikki was a finalist in the VET teacher / trainer of the year category.

And the horticulture and aquaculture team are celebrating the success of Arafura Tree Services, a Darwin firm that won the Small Business of the Year Award.

Team Leader Scott McDonald said CDU had worked with staff from Arafura Tree Services on a regular basis since the introduction of the Certificate III in Arboriculture in January.

“We are thrilled to think that our team may have played a small part in the success of a professional and hard-working crew who has won some well-deserved national recognition,” Mr McDonald said.
