In an Australian first for higher education, Charles Darwin University staff will hear from the world’s leading experts about game-based learning and gamification in education.

The “Game On: Using Game Design to Enhance Online Learning” symposium comes ahead of the opening of the Innovative Media Production Studio (IMPS) at Casuarina campus, which will be the home of specialist interactive online learning resources design and development.

Leader Online Innovative Projects Alison Lockley said that the IMPS would enable staff to utilise a range of contemporary technologies and approaches to create rich, interactive and engaging online learning materials.

“The symposium will explore the potential for game design and game-based learning to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes at CDU,” Mrs Lockley said.

Symposium attendees also will learn about innovative practices already being rolled out in higher education institutions around the globe.

The event will run from 2 – 4 September at Casuarina campus.
