CDU picks up NT Government history grant

By Andrew Hall

The second volume of stories about Greek migration to Australia and other parts of the world will be produced with a $5500 grant from the Northern Territory Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture.

Hellenic Studies Associate Professor George Frazis said the funds would be used to compile, edit and publish research papers presented at this year’s Perspectives on the Hellenic Diaspora conferences in Darwin, Rhodes and Thessaloniki.

“We are very happy about this grant because our emphasis is to publish historical accounts of the Hellenic diaspora in Australia – in particular in Darwin – and around the world,” Dr Frazis said.

“We are working with academics around the world to promote previously untold stories on Hellenic immigration.”

He said Volume I had been produced with support from the Darwin community and the university.
