Indian Consul-General gifts books to Library

By Andrew Hall

The Indian Consul-General Ms Dantu Charandasi visited Casuarina campus recently to meet with Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks and to present a range of books on Indian art, history and culture to the CDU Library.

At the Library Ms Charandasi was greeted by Library Services Director Anthony Hornby and a contingent of staff and students hailing from the Sub-Continent.

Ms Charandasi said she was delighted to be able, on behalf of the Indian Consulate, to present the books about various aspects of India to the CDU Library.

“As a dual sector university, CDU has developed a reputation as one of the most innovative teaching and learning institutions in the Indo-Pacific region and this gift confirms India’s desire to have closer ties with the university,” she said.

“India has developed immensely in the past decade or so as well, not only in the digital technology sector but also in other important socio-economic areas, which provides greater capacity for building relationships between my country and Australia.

“I look forward to exploring the range of available opportunities between our two countries, especially with the Northern Territory and its centre of academic excellence, CDU.”
