Indonesian jurists, diplomats to study with CDU

By Andrew Hall

Ties between CDU and Indonesia have grown stronger after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see the university administering courses for the Indonesian Judicial Commission (IJC).

Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks said he was excited about the prospect of the University collaborating with the Judicial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia and honoured that Dr Maradaman Harahap and Commission members had embraced CDU’s ability to deliver advanced formal education in the region.

The MoU refers to a range of collaborative endeavours that include joint comparative research concerning Codes of Ethics for judges, courts and judicial administration, and training IJC staff in academic writing, so they are able to undertake higher degrees by research.

Another MoU was signed recently in Jakarta by Professor Maddocks and Indonesian Foreign Ministry departmental directors Dr Arifi Saiman and Mr Andre Omer Siregar, confirming that CDU would administer courses and training programs for members of the Indonesian diplomatic corps.
