Territorians are being invited to put pen to paper and submit their writings to the 2015 Northern Territory Literary Awards.

Charles Darwin University is once again supporting the competition, a Northern Territory Library initiative, by sponsoring the CDU Travel Short Story Award and the CDU Essay Award.

The competition closely aligns with CDU’s course offerings, particularly the recently introduced major in Literary Studies.

Winners of the CDU awards will receive up to $1000 in cash prizes along with NT Writers’ Centre memberships and masterclasses.

The competition aims to acknowledge the high standards of writing and the exceptional literary skills of members of the NT’s thriving writers’ community.

Other categories include the ZipPrint Short Story Award, Writers' Centre Poetry Award, Kath Manzie Youth Award, Browns Mart Theatre Award and Southern Cross Television Flash Fiction Award.

Winners of each of the seven categories will be awarded cash prizes and have the opportunity to gain valuable public exposure of their literary works.

Entries close on Friday, 8 May and the awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, 30 July at the NT Library in NT Parliament House, Darwin.
