Prominent members of the medical and academic communities have welcomed students entering their first year of the Northern Territory Medical Program this semester.

Charles Darwin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks and Flinders University NT Associate Dean Professor John Wakerman congratulated the students, some of whom will gain a double degree from the program.

The double degree is offered jointly by CDU and Flinders University, allowing students to graduate with a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences and a Doctor of Medicine.

About 80 people attended the function, including Australian Medical Association NT President Professor Robert Parker, Flinders University staff, NT Medical Program students and teaching staff from Royal Darwin Hospital and other local health clinics.
