A Darwin-based mover and shaker and multi award-winning public relations practitioner has joined the Charles Darwin University teaching team at Casuarina campus.

Head of Associated Advertising and Promotions’ marketing, events and public relations team, Practicing Public Relations lecturer Natalie Bell brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to her role at CDU.

Ms Bell said promotional work ran in the family, with her mother, Claire, having worked in the industry for more than 20 years.

“I was lucky to be able to gain industry insight and experience through working at my mother’s agency during university holidays,” Ms Bell said.

“I am genuinely passionate about my industry so I was excited about playing a small role in the professional development of future PR leaders as a lecturer at CDU.”

Ms Bell said being able to weave real life case studies into her course material was a core part of her work at CDU.

“The great thing about working in PR is that each day is quite different from the next,” she said. "I am lucky enough to work on a diverse range of projects with a variety of clients, who all have very different needs.

The introduction of social media has changed the entire media landscape and brought about a whole new perspective on how organisations and individuals interact with their publics.”

In addition to her work and teaching commitments, Ms Bell is President of Business and Professional Women Darwin, Chair of Life Education Northern Territory, Director of Life Education Australia, and committee member of Meetings and Events Australia (NT).

She took out the NT and national Future Leader categories at the 2012 Meetings and Events Australia awards.
