CDU prepares to welcome new Chancellor

Charles Darwin University will welcome its third Chancellor when Mr Neil Balnaves AO is installed into the position during a ceremony next week.

The university will join with members of the wider community for the installation ceremony at the Mal Nairn Auditorium on Casuarina campus from 9am – 10am Friday April 22. The ceremony will include an Academic Procession.

The appointment of Mr Balnaves to the highest position within the university comes after the Honourable Sally Thomas AC completed two, three-year terms in the position.

If demand for seats at the Mal Nairn Auditorium is higher than capacity, staff may be directed to the Blue 5 lecture theatre, where the ceremony will be streamed in.

People wishing to attend the Chancellor’s installation should RSVP by CoB Monday 18 April to E: CDUEvents@cdu.edu.au and T: 08 8946 6554.

The ceremony is also expected to be streamed into other campuses and centres.

The out-going Chancellor, Ms Thomas, will be farewelled two days earlier.

Staff are invited to attend the event from 5pm – 7pm Wednesday April 20 in The Colonnade, building Orange 12 on Casuarina campus.

This will be a more informal occasion in keeping with Ms Thomas’ wishes, and to allow staff to engage with her in person.

RSVP to attend Ms Thomas’ farewell by CoB Friday April 15 to E: vc-pea@cdu.edu.au.

Dress code for both events is Territory Rig.
