New Chinese Director arrives at CI

By Andrew Hall

Chemistry and materials science professor Du Jun will this month become the second senior academic from China’s Anhui Normal University to become the Chinese Director of CDU’s Confucius Institute (CI).

Professor Du replaces Associate Professor Hua Wang, who served as the CI co-director for three years until February 2019.

“We thank Associate Professor Hua Wang for everything he contributed to the Institute during his time as the Chinese Deputy Director, and we warmly welcome Professor Du Jun to Charles Darwin University and to the Northern Territory,” CI Director Professor Martin Jarvis said.

“Professor Du has played an important role within our partner university, Anhui Normal University, in helping to develop the relationship within the Confucius Institute since 2012. So, we very much look forward to working with her to further advance the important role played by the Confucius Institute in bringing the teaching and learning programs about Chinese language and culture to the Northern Territory.”

Professor Du Jun is also Vice-Dean of the International Education College, and Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department of Anhui Normal University, Wuhu, Anhui Province in China.
