A fresh new team has been elected to the Charles Darwin University Students’ Association (CDUSA) promising to revitalise the main student body.

Bachelor of Accounting student Benjamin Poveda is leading the change as President, with Manfred Mletsin and Ali Dhirani elected to the positions of Vice President and Secretary respectively.

Benjamin said his team was excited to shake things up with the aim of making the CDUSA stronger and more effective.

“We are starting from scratch and working on a new constitution and incorporation,” he said.

“CDUSA has been revamped to reflect the new structure of the university and it’s set to be a powerful student voice to the university and wider community.”

Benjamin said not only would CDUSA advocate to the Vice-Chancellor on a range of issues, but it also managed more than 50 associated clubs, societies and associations such as the Table Tennis Club, the Bangladeshi Student Association and the Law Students’ Society.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Engagement and Success Professor Philip Seltsikas congratulated the new team.

“A strong and engaged CDUSA is essential to creating and sustaining a vibrant student community at CDU,” he said.

The student executive also comprises Abdul Rakib Oshin, Anna Dhanna Ocampo, Zarah Tenorio, Gabrielle Hill, Brendan Manning, Tyler Farr, Renmy Dang, Osama Bhatti, Emma Boeck, Anabelle Mun Choy and Lamia Ferdaus.
