Students welcomed at S2 O WeekBy Ellie Turner More than 300 students were welcomed to Casuarina campus with a traditional smoking ceremony for O Week. Students attended academic information sessions in preparation for their studies ahead of Semester Two, while speed-friending, bubble sports and movies under the stars gave them opportunities to get to know each other and explore the campus. O Week coordinator David Macbain said he expected studying at CDU would open doors to opportunities for new students. “O Week is a fantastic time to network and gain information,” he said. “It is a great chance for new students to explore the campus and for existing students to re-familiarise themselves, ensuring that everyone is prepared for Semester Two.” Workshops provided study tips, an Indigenous Knowledges and Learning showcase, and information about applying for scholarships, peer-assisted study and being an international student. Roni Lim, an international student from the Philippines who is undertaking a two-year Master of Business Administration (Professional Practice), said she attended as many sessions and activities as possible. “I found the lecturers, staff, ambassadors and other students helpful and inclusive,” she said. |
