CDU women to mingle with Royals

By Andrew Hall

New Media and IT double-degree student Reema Bali will take up an all-expenses-paid internship this month with internationally recognised brand specialist The Royals Place Brand Consortium.

Reema will be joined at the Melbourne office of the branding and marketing company by fellow intern Nathalie Nalzaro, a Bachelor of Creative Arts and Industries (New Media Design) 2018 graduate.

The Royals offered two internships to tertiary students from Darwin after the company won a NT Government tender following a world-wide search for a brand specialist with a successful national and international track record. Their brief is to inspire people to think differently about the Northern Territory.

“When I spoke to the people at The Royals, they were very interested that I had studied not just coding, but also media design and screen production as part of my degree,” Reema said.

“I’m excited to get involved in all the creative departments of the Royals that cover areas I’ve studied, and to have some insight into the marketing strategies of the company.”

Reema said that after graduation she aspired to become a “front-end” web developer because it combined creative design with information technology know-how.

“I learn the coding, but I love the creative side and my new media classes are favourites.”

Screen and New Media, and double degree course coordinator Dr Aurora Scheelings said it was an excellent opportunity for Reema and Nathalie to have an immersive learning experience and to apply what they’ve learnt at CDU with some of the best in the business.
