Once a desk-bound office worker, the friendly new face of Charles Darwin University’s fitness centre will inspire the couch potato in everyone to be more active.

Working in the fitness industry since 2007, the new manager of The Gym@CDU Rosie Atkinson said she was excited about leading CDU’s gym staff, who do a wonderful job of creating a welcoming environment for their clients.

A former administration officer, Ms Atkinson’s sedentary job was all the motivation she needed to get active at the gym, which ignited her passion to pursue a career in the fitness industry.

“My interest in fitness began when I was an avid gym-goer, participating in group fitness classes,” Ms Atkinson said.

“That led me to become a group fitness instructor, instructing the workouts I had always loved to do.”

Ms Atkinson said she hoped to continue to make a positive impact on the lives of her clients through her work at The Gym@CDU.

“The reason I got into the fitness industry in the first place was to help people make a change in their lives,” Ms Atkinson said.

“Fitness is not necessarily about the way you look. It is also about leading a healthy lifestyle and feeling great too.”

Catering to a broad client base, The Gym@CDU is open to members of the public, and offers discounted rates to seniors and CDU students and staff. For more information, visit W:
