Charles Darwin University has donated its title-winning racing car to the Arunga Park Speedway Association in Alice Springs.

Trades Team Leader Jamie Finn handed the keys to new speedway club president Garth Thompson recently, saying the EA Falcon had been a useful asset in the automotive workshop at Alice Springs campus.

“We anticipate it will get plenty of use at its new home, especially among the emerging drivers at Arunga Park,” Mr Finn said.

“It is my understanding that they will make some minor adjustments so it will be ready for the start of the speedway season later this month.

“It will be easily identifiable because they have agreed to maintain the CDU name and logo on the vehicle.”

Mr Finn said about 30 Certificate III Automotive students helped build the car in 2011 and many others contributed to its maintenance.

“One of our automotive students drove it to victory in the 2013 Centralian Street Stock championship,” Mr Finn said.
