Charles Darwin University has donated its title-winning racing car to the Arunga Park Speedway Association in Alice Springs.

Automotive trainer Rob Tucker said that while the vehicle had been a useful resource in the training workshop at Alice Springs campus, it was time to move it on.

“About 30 of our Certificate III Automotive students helped build the car in 2011 and many others have contributed to its maintenance since,” he said.

“But we are now in the position where we would like to donate it to the speedway club where I’m sure it will be destined for plenty of good use.”

Mr Tucker said CDU and the Arunga Park Speedway Association each had benefitted from a strong mutual relationship.

“The automotive department has helped foster new speedway drivers in the street stock division with the supply of the car and mechanical support over the past three years.

“They have kindly agreed to keep the CDU name and logo intact on the vehicle into the future.”

Mr Tucker said the EA Falcon’s “proudest moment” occurred when former automotive student Rowan Prudham drove it to victory in the Centralian Street Stock title in 2013.
