VC recognises outstanding commitment by staff

Outstanding staff achievement and long-term commitment to the job were celebrated at Charles Darwin University recently with the awarding of the staff excellence and long service awards.

In presenting the awards, Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover congratulated the high calibre awardees for their dedication.

Winners of the Vice-Chancellor’s awards for exceptional performance by general staff were Teaching Space Technical Support Officer Alan Natt and Deputy Director Marketing and Planning Penny Szybiak.

The Vice-Chancellor’s award for exceptional performance by a team was won by the Student Recruitment and Events Team from the Office of Media, Advancement and Community Engagement: Marissa Briston, Nattapong (Taytae) Teerakaew, Karen Glazbrook, Trisha Mellow, Brenton Mead and Tanya Weatherstone.

The award for exceptional performance in research early career researcher was won by Research Fellow Vanessa Adams and Menzies School of Health Research Post-doctoral Research Fellow Steven Tong. Outstanding individual researcher was awarded to National Environmental Research Program Director Michael Douglas.

Awards for outstanding contribution to student learning contributions that enhance student development, learning, or research went to the Visual Arts/Creative Arts School of Creative Arts and Humanities team of Sarah Pirrie, Henry Smith, Suzi Lyon, Mats Unden and Cornelius Delaney. The innovative and effective approaches to online and flexible learning, teaching and training award was won by Karen Joyce, and Darryl Saunders and Ken Gibson.

Approaches that are supportive and inclusive of a diverse student body went to the Pharmacy team in the School of Psychological and Clinical Sciences Kwang Choon Ye and Yean Yeow Tan.

Some 43 staff members received awards for 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service.
