Exceptional staff receive awards

Charles Darwin University staff have been recognised for their dedication to their work during an annual end-of-year awards ceremony at Casuarina campus.

Awards were presented to academic, professional, research and general staff for exceptional performance exceeding the normal requirements of their positions and advancing the university’s strategic goals.

Vocal studies lecturer and Centre for Youth and Community Music director Paolo Fabris received the prestigious Ryan Family Award 2015 for his exceptional performances and contributions to the university.

Mr Fabris began lecturing at CDU in 2009 and conducts several choirs for the School of Creative Arts and Humanities, including the VoxCrox Community Choir, Still Belting Out! senior citizens choir and the CDU Students Choir.

Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Exceptional Performance by General Staff were awarded to the Office of Student Administration and Equity Services accommodation officer Katie Wreford, and the Office of International Services team and the Office of Marketing and Planning’s Client Relations Management team.

Vice-Chancellor Awards for Exceptional Performance in Research went to Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods principle research fellow Dr Alison King and Northern Institute senior research fellow Dr Linda Ford, along with the Menzies School of Health Research’s Child Health Respiratory Clinical Team and Child Health Life Course Team.

The Vice-Chancellor Award for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning was awarded to the East Indonesian Field Intensive Team at the School of Environment.

Ryan Family Award Special Commendations were given to Engineering, Health, Science and the Environment technical services manager Himi Ibrahim and School of Law lecturer Felicity Gerry QC.

As part of the ceremony 44 staff received their Long Service Recognition Awards for 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service to CDU. Staff who received the award for 30 years of service included Horticulture and Aquaculture technical officer Kathy Kellam, Vocational Education and Training lecturer Sean Byrne, and Office of Library Services director Ruth Quinn.
