Charles Darwin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks was among members of the local community who converged on The Heights, Durack, recently for the estate’s family fun day.

Located adjacent to CDU’s Palmerston campus, The Heights is being developed by CIC Australia in collaboration with the university.

The family fun day on September 19 showcased to homebuyers and the broader community how far The Heights has come in recent times.

There were also plenty of children’s activities, including face painting, balloon twisting and glitter tattoos, while an interactive animal display from Wild Thingz proved to be a big hit.

Hundreds of homes are now completed or under construction as the development continues to transform into an integral part of the local Palmerston/Durack community.

In addition to new homes, The Heights also includes new parks, bike paths and walking tracks, while a lakeside neighbourhood centre also will be built to hold community events and exhibitions.

Construction is set to begin on a new road connecting University Avenue adjacent to the university’s main car park with Packard Avenue within The Heights, Durack, which is due to be opened to traffic by April next year.
