Event to celebrate our ties with Timor-Leste

The burgeoning education, training and research partnership between Charles Darwin University and Timor-Leste will be showcased at a public event on Casuarina campus.

Collaboration with government agencies and the private sector, research projects, education and training initiatives, capacity-building activities and the Timorese student community will feature at the event titled “CDU Engagement with Timor-Leste”.

Director of International Strategy and Development Ray Kelly said CDU’s relationship with Timor-Leste continued to grow.

“It’s important we celebrate these ties, which have strengthened through the exchange of cultural and academic knowledge over the years,” he said.

Bachelor of Information Technology students Maria Ferreira and Augusto Sarmento, who are Timor-Leste Ministry of Finance scholars, will be among staff and students presenting at the event.

Augusto said he and Maria would talk about their experiences, from the scholarship selection process to arriving in Darwin and first impressions of the city.

The event will be held in building Blue 2A from 4.30pm – 6.30pm on Thursday, 24 August.
