Acting Director Central Australia Lyle Mellors congratulates academic high achiever Mary-Rose Thomas

Congratulations to best and brightest

Charles Darwin University has extended its best wishes to Mary-Rose Thomas, a Year 12 graduate who last year achieved the highest university entrance score by a Central Australian.

Acting Campus Director Lyle Mellors congratulated Ms Thomas at the Northern Territory Board of Studies' award ceremony in Alice Springs recently, where he presented her with a cheque for $200.

“CDU is delighted to be able to support students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their educational studies,” he said.

Ms Thomas, whose score in the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank was 98.75, also was acknowledged for her outstanding achievements in English Studies and Legal Studies and for achieving a top 20 score in the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training.

Born, raised and educated in Alice Springs, the St Philip’s College graduate will soon leave the Red Centre for Melbourne to undertake a three-year undergraduate program in commerce.

“I may take up studies in law after that so that I can travel internationally,” she said.
