VC welcomes College Dean team

By Robyn McDougall

CDU’s higher education academic restructure is now complete with the arrival on 22 October of the final of the six College Deans.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks said that with the Dean of the College of Engineering, IT and Environment, Professor David Young, taking up his position the university’s team of Deans was now in place.

“The restructure was a lengthy and complex process, but it was essential to better position CDU for the next phase of our growth and development,” Professor Maddocks said.

“With the leadership of the colleges now in place, I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact of the new structure emerging.”

He thanked members of the university community for their contributions in helping to shape the new structure.

“We could not have achieved this outcome without the contributions of staff, who have influenced the outcome positively through extended consultation and discussion.

“I extend my thanks to everyone who helped progress us to this point and express my appreciation for the loyalty and engagement of staff. I particularly thank the Provost, Professor Sue Carthew, who oversaw the project, and her Executive Officer Natasha Lawrence for her dedication to the project.”

The new Deans and their Colleges are:
Business and Law – Professor David Low
Education – Professor Greg Shaw
Health and Human Sciences – Professor Dominic Upton
Indigenous Futures, Arts and Society – Professor Ruth Wallace
Nursing and Midwifery – Professor Catherine Turner
Engineering, IT and Environment – Professor David Young.
