Expo paints bright picture for industry

The School of Trades has launched a vibrant new expo bringing the latest in vehicle body work tools, supplies and technology to Casuarina campus.

The expo showcased products for Northern Territory vehicle body repair apprentices and businesses, including automotive waterborne paints and dust extraction devices, focusing on environmentally safe products and equipment that helps protect workers’ health and safety.

Vehicle Body lecturer and event coordinator Grant Mauger said he hoped apprentices and Territory businesses would benefit from the exposure to professionals from the product industry and vice versa.

“Most vehicle body workers here are hands-on running small businesses and can’t make it to the major Australian expo interstate, so we decided to have an expo here,” he said.

“We are trying to encourage our students to work cleaner and smarter.”

The expo, held in partnership with Palmerston Paint Supplies, hosted exhibitors from the NT, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.
