Students shave for charity

CDU Student Ambassadors smashed it out of the park with their fundraising for the World’s Greatest Shave this year.

The goal was $2000, but $3059 was raised for the annual charity event for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Law student Saurav Kundu shaved his head and Nursing student Erilyn Cortez had more than half a metre of her hair lopped off, which she donated.

Saurav said the World’s Greatest Shave was something he always wanted to do but had never been brave enough.

“This year, I found the courage to be brave and shave!” he said. “I wanted to support a great organisation that provides practical and emotional support as well as fund vital research.”

VET staff, Hairdressing students and Hairhouse Warehouse volunteered their time and expertise to the event.

Local bakeries Kurt’s Cakes, Dimitrios Specialty Cakes and the Lunch Room donated products, with Student Ambassadors baking goods for sale at the event.
