Significant collaborations between Charles Darwin University and its research partners from across the globe have resulted in the launch of two new international book titles.

CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover has launched “Prepare for Impact: When people and the environment collide in the tropics” and “RIMBA: Sustainable forest livelihoods in Malaysia and Australia”.

Director of the School of Environmental Research and co-author of one of the books, Professor Stephen Garnett said the authors hoped the texts would bring to light issues surrounding sustainability and climate change both in Australia and beyond its borders.

“These titles represent a critical mass of research expertise spanning multiple fields,” he said.

“RIMBA is the product of an international research collaboration for the innovative managements of forest environments and the many ways they contribute to the well-being of people in Malaysia and Australia.

“Prepare for Impact is a book that stemmed from an international symposium held at the university in 2006 and looks at how booming economies in China and India, and potentially other countries, are likely to drive exponential increases in demands for natural resources, and as a result, severely impact climate change in the region.
