Charles Darwin University’s Alice Springs campus will be headed by an interim director during the three-month search for a replacement for the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Community and Access, Don Zoellner.

The Director of Remote Link on the Alice Springs campus, Paul Fitzsimons, will take on the temporary role of Director of the Alice Springs campus after Mr Zoellner retired on Friday.

Pro Vice-Chancellor, VET, Dr Barry McKnight said Mr Fitzsimons would hold the dual roles for approximately three months.

“We are undertaking an Australia-wide search to recruit a permanent head of the Alice Springs campus and we expect the process to take about three months,” Dr McKnight said.

“Mr Fitzsimons will be the senior officer on campus during this time and will be responsible for the smooth delivery of education and training until a permanent appointment is made.”

He said Mr Fitzsimons was both a long-time staff member of CDU and resident of Alice Springs, and had a deep understanding of the operation of the Alice Springs campus.
