The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Barney Glover, has marked his first anniversary at the helm of the Northern Territory’s only university.

Professor Glover, who took up the role on February 23 2009, told a gathering in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor that the year had been one of great achievements for CDU, the result of outstanding work by many people over the past few years.

He said the university was now well established and was entering a more mature phase of its development.

Achievements in the past year included Spain-based SCImago Institutions 2009 World Report naming CDU in the top five Australian universities for research performance, continued strong growth in student enrolments, the development of national and international partnerships in education and training, and multi-million-dollar funding from the Australian Government for capital works.

The Vice-Chancellor said that in the coming year he looked forward to the Medical program being established at CDU, in conjunction with Flinders University, new partnerships with universities and industry for the delivery of education and training into regional and remote areas, and the construction of buildings to house the Medical program and the Australian Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Education.
