Executives attend Confucius Institute talks

A Charles Darwin University delegation travelled to China recently to visit the university's Confucius Institute partners.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Sharon Bell and Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Education, Business and Arts Professor Martin Jarvis made the trip to China with Co-Director of the CDU Confucius Institute Mr Donghe Liu to hold the first Confucius Institute Board meeting.

President Wang Lun and Vice-President Wang Shaowu, from Anhui Normal University, welcomed the CDU delegation, together with Hainan University representative Professor Yang.

Professor Bell said the meetings at both Anhui Normal University and Hainan University, hosted by Vice-President Fu Guohua, were extremely positive.

“The Confucius Institute relationship is opening up other opportunities for tri-partite institutional collaboration in the fields of business, tourism, science, fine arts and music,” Professor Bell said.

“In the context of the Chinese Government's promotion of staff and student mobility, opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial relationships is expected to be significant.”
