Print works to go on show

Bai Bai Napangardi’s work, entitled “Mulupuku 2013” will be on show as part of the exhibitions at CDU opening this month

Limited edition prints by prolific Indigenous artists from the Warlayirti and Bindi art centres will be on show at Charles Darwin University this month.

The collection of etchings, drypoints and Japanese-style woodblock works are the result of workshops conducted by the printmaking team at Northern Editions working with artists from these renowned art centres last year.

Northern Editions, together with Warlayirti Artists, present their exhibition entitled “Kuralka Tjanu Tjukurrpa: Kuwarri Marra Ku (Old Stories, New Creations)”, which includes works created by the art centre’s senior and emerging artists from the remote community of Balgo.

The exhibition will be shown at the Nan Giese Gallery, Building 10, Orange Precinct, on Casuarina campus. Exhibiting artists Helicopter Joe Tjungurrayi and Jane Gimme will officially open the show on 10 August at 3pm. It will run until 30 August.

In another exhibition, Northern Editions and Bindi, (Mwerre Anthurre) Artists of Alice Springs present their show entitled “Broncos, Birds and Boulders: New Prints by Bindi”, which includes works that depict impressions of animals, birdlife and landscapes of the Central Australian region.

It will be showing in the Northern Editions Gallery, Building 9, Orange Precinct, Casuarina campus. Mr Tom Pauling AO QC will officially open the exhibition at 2pm on 10 August. It will run until 10 September.

The galleries are open Monday – Friday from 9am – 4pm, with special showings on Sunday 11, Saturday 17 and Sunday 25 August from 10am – 3pm.
