Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd was on Casuarina campus recently to highlight the importance of the global fight to overcome poverty.

CDU's Mal Nairn Auditorium was at capacity as people from throughout Darwin gathered to hear his address, which was part of Anti-Poverty Week.

Mr Rudd spoke about recent reforms to improve the effectiveness of Australia's aid program, and why addressing poverty in developing countries was vital to our national interest.

He identified CDU as an institution that was helping to build relationships and assisting through research to build capacity, reduce reliance on aid and improve living standards.
