CDU Chancellor and the NT's 20th Administrator, the Honourable Sally Thomas AM
CDU's Chancellor, the Honourable Sally Thomas AM, has been sworn in as the 20th Administrator of the Northern Territory.

Ms Thomas was sworn in by the Governor-General, Her Excellency Quentin Bryce AC, in Darwin on October 31.

She is the first female Administrator of the NT and has had a distinguished legal career including serving as a Judge of the Supreme Court of the NT and as Chief Stipendiary Magistrate of the NT Magistrates Court.

Ms Thomas replaces the 19th Administrator, Mr Tom Pauling AO QC, who has joined CDU as a Professorial Fellow.

CDU's Head of Law, Professor Les McCrimmon, welcomed Mr Pauling's appointment in the School of Law and Business.

"Mr Pauling brings decades of experience in the law to his work at CDU. In recognition of his exceptional skills as a barrister, Mr Pauling was appointed Solicitor-General of the NT from 1988 to 2007 before being appointed as Administrator of the Northern Territory," Professor McCrimmon said.

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome a person of Mr Pauling's calibre into our Law community at CDU."

In his role as Professorial Fellow, Mr Pauling will carry out research in areas that are relevant to the history, law and governance of the NT.

He also will assist with the establishment of and chair the Law discipline's Course Advisory Panel. Finally, he will share his expertise in law and governance with CDU Law students through guest lectures.
