CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Barney Glover has officially opened the new international student lounge at Casuarina campus.

The space, in the heart of the entrance to the campus, was established in response to international student feedback recorded as part of the recent International Student Barometer survey conducted by the CDU international office.

Professor Glover said that international students were vitally important to the university community and he was delighted to open such a facility.

"Our international student community is continuing to grow with a 15 per cent increase in commencing international students at CDU in 2012," Professor Glover said.

"We welcome all international students to CDU and greatly value the multicultural character of our campus."

The space, fitted with lounges and kitchenette will be a gathering point for all international students.

Indonesian PhD student Ratih Koesoemo said she was pleased about the attention given to international students at CDU.

"We are very pleased about the attention of the Vice-Chancellor to international students," Ms Koesoemo said. "These facilities will allow us to meet with ease, and in comfort for discussions or to study together."
