Jan ze Trzciany, Arudinensis, philosophy professor at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków wrote a treatise on human nature and dignity, De Natura Ac Dignitate Hominis (1554).
The main attributes in regards to human dignity finds Arudinensis in human reason, human body and human soul.
Elaborating his concept of human dignity the philosopher adopted Ancient, Medieval and Quattrocento thinkers’ ideas, that enriched philosophical discourse at the Krakow University during the 1540s and 1550s.
The presentation juxtaposes as well Arudinensis ideas regarding human dignity as the foundation of Human Rights to the contemporary voices concerning this matter.
